LAUREN MCDONALD
FORREST YOGA PHILOSOPHY
Forrest Yoga is not in the trees....Come on; I know you thought it! Forrest Yoga is a modern style of Yoga created by Ana Forrest, one of the pioneers of Yoga in the US. She created a style of yoga that deals with the modern lifestyle and pains of today's society on an emotional, physical, and energetic level.
What you can expect is lots of shoulder work to combat the prevalence of the computer lifestyle that so many of us battle in this technology era. Tight shoulders, aching wrists, and back pain are some of the main reasons I came to yoga! You can also expect to learn how to breathe deeply in longer posture holds. This alone will help reduce stress and give you the tools to manage your anxiety. Forrest Yoga will guide you to connect deeply to your core to walk through your life in a centered way and help to relieve your low back pain. And last but certainly not least it will challenge you to feel deeply through an open heart so that you can deal with life's beautiful, messy plan for your soul.
Forrest Yoga does not require strength or flexibility; it only requires a willingness to learn how to feel authentically and respond honestly. The practice is founded on four pillars -- Breath, Strength, Integrity and Spirit.
BREATH
Forrest Yoga teaches you how to breathe deeply, connect in feeling with your body, use the power of breath to bring aliveness into every cell of your body and ignite your passion for living.
STRENGTH
Forrest Yoga teaches you to connect to your core, to be strong and centered. The pose sequences are designed to help you develop the skills to awaken each of your senses. The long holds help you progress in the poses and go deeper.
INTEGRITY
Forrest Yoga teaches you to become proficient at safely tailoring each pose to work best for you, particularly with physical and emotional injuries.
SPIRIT
Forrest Yoga's intent is to create a sense of freedom, a connection to your Spirit and the courage to walk as your Spirit dictates.
